About the designer:
Before relocating to Australia, George lived in Colombia, his country of origin, where he completed a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia.
2005–2008 – At the beginning of his professional journey, George worked on the design, development, and management of custom lighting and residential/commercial furniture projects for leading Colombian design firms such as Ormetal Lighting and Aitken Studio.
2011–2015 – After moving to Australia, he became an Associate in the Furniture Studio at the iconic JamFactory Contemporary Craft and Design in Adelaide. During this period, he focused his design practice on a more hands-on approach, refining his timber craftsmanship and working on bespoke design pieces and commissions.
2015–2022 – George joined the Custom Design division of Adelaide Expo Hire, contributing his broad creative background and design management skills to South Australia's leading exhibition design company. His role spanned the design and delivery of innovative custom stands, displays, and event environments.
2022–2025 – Seeking to broaden his industrial design scope, George joined the team at Iguana Creative, where he has been involved in the design development, project management, and documentation of major public infrastructure projects, including public art, urban furniture, playgrounds, and bespoke one-off works with national impact.
2011–Present – Alongside his professional career, George has continuously run his own practice, George Criollo Design, delivering custom residential and commercial design commissions, lighting products and decorative objects across Australia, known for their high-quality craftsmanship and refined, thorough design.
